Her coat also requires a genuine commitment. A furnished, non-shedding or very low-shedding Doodle coat still needs brushing to the skin, careful combing and regular professional grooming. Beginning this handling gently during puppyhood helps prevent grooming from becoming stressful later.

Meet Portia Phantom Labradoodle is therefore more than a page about colour. It is an introduction to a happy, gentle and exceptionally intelligent family dog who loves children, the elderly and the everyday companionship of the people around her.

“Phantom” describes a colour pattern rather than a separate Labradoodle generation. A phantom dog has a darker base colour with clearly placed secondary markings. These markings may appear above the eyes, along the muzzle, on the chest, legs and beneath the tail.

Portia has a luxurious brown coat with distinctive tan points that create a beautiful contrast. The exact intensity and placement of phantom markings can differ from one dog to another, and future puppies may inherit a variety of colours or patterns depending on the genetics of both parents.

Colour can be exciting, but it is never the only reason for planning a pairing. Temperament, health, structure, coat traits, expected adult size and family suitability carry greater importance. We want each puppy to be chosen as a lifelong companion—not simply for a particular marking.

The Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle are both intelligent working breeds with histories of cooperating closely with people. A Labradoodle may inherit different combinations of traits from both sides, which is why each parent and pairing must be considered individually.

Portia contributes her happy nature, gentle temperament, exceptional intelligence, love of people and striking phantom colouring. Bennie contributes Poodle intelligence, furnishings, coat influence and his own family-oriented temperament. The purpose of the pairing is not simply to produce beautiful puppies; it is to raise loving companions with health, temperament and long-term family suitability in mind.

Future F1B puppies connected to Portia’s program may have furnished coats ranging from soft waves to looser curls. Depending on the pairing, colours may include phantom, chocolate, cream, apricot, red parti and other beautiful variations.

F1B Labradoodles are often chosen by families hoping for non-shedding to very low-shedding coat qualities. Coat and shedding can still vary between puppies, and a non-shedding coat is not maintenance-free. Loose hair may remain trapped within the coat, making regular brushing, combing and professional grooming especially important.

Families are sometimes drawn to Portia because they hope for phantom markings, a particular coat or a certain colour. Those preferences are welcome, but a lasting match must consider much more. A puppy’s happiness, gentleness, energy, intelligence, interest in people and ability to settle into family life can be more important than markings alone.

As Portia’s puppies grow, we observe how they interact with littermates, respond to gentle handling, approach new objects, seek affection and settle after play. This does not allow anyone to predict an adult dog perfectly, but it helps approved families understand meaningful differences among puppies from the same litter.
